Sale of Austrian Private Banking Subsidiary

Anglo Irish Bank Corporation plc today announces that, following regulatory
approval, it has completed the sale of its Austrian private banking subsidiary,
Anglo Irish Bank (Austria) AG to Valartis Group AG pursuant to the sale
agreement announced on 5 September 2008.
